Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mos Def (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorgip Wallrium (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Def kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mathematics. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mos Def! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jorgip Wallrium! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Wallrium. Wallrium has Def up against the cage in a clinch.
Wallrium takes a knee right on the jaw!
It looks like Jorgip Wallrium has been cut. Def manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Wallrium misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Def.
Wallrium tries to land knees in the clinch but Def avoids the damage to the body. Def dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Def gets control of Wallrium's arms and successfully pulls guard. Def will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Def is controlling Wallrium's posture. Def might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wallrium controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallrium wants to stand but Def has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Def seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jorgip Wallrium has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Wallrium missing with a left hand there. Def was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Wallrium lands with a kick to the temple. Def shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" A slapping leg kick lands for Wallrium.
Wallrium plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Mos Def has been cut. Def misses with a body kick. Wallrium clinches up with Def and pushes him back against the cage. Def tries to land a knee to the head but Wallrium blocks with his arms.

Wallrium can't find room to land a body shot as Def controls the action.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Def misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wallrium.
Def tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wallrium avoids it. Wallrium pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Def gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Def working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Def works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wallrium is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Def throwing shots but Wallrium is blocking nicely. Def looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Def is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Def is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Def lands strikes from half guard. Def throwing shots but Wallrium is blocking nicely. Def has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Def thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Def seems to be looking for submissions.
Def content to control rather than advance. Wallrium is trying to stand back up but Def is controlling him
Def passes the guard and advances to mount! Def landing strikes from the mount and Wallrium is in trouble! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mos Def dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Wallrium throws a head kick but Def moves out of range.
Def thows a leg kick but Wallrium checks it letting Wallrium counter with a right hand. Wallrium moves into the clinch successfully.
Def tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wallrium just stands there and leans against the cage. The referee calls for Def to work.
Def looking to throw knees to the head but Wallrium is blocking nicely.
Wallrium pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Wallrium being controlled against the cage. Def lands a nice knee to the body. Def utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Def manages to pull guard.
Def is looking for a triangle but Wallrium pushes his legs off easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wallrium tries to stand but Def is controlling from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Def escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wallrium gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Wallrium looking to sit in guard and control but Def gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Def working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Def trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Def forces his way into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Def wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wallrium keeps working. Def trying to mount his opponent but Wallrium defends it. Def not landing any meaningful shots this time. Wallrium won't allow Def to pass to mount. Def is working hard here to advance position. Def looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wallrium with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Wallrium is trying to stand back up but Def is controlling him
That's three minutes gone in the round. Def not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Def slips a nice elbow through Wallrium's hands, connecting with Wallrium's forehead. Def is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Wallrium to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. Wallrium is looking for a triangle here but Def uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Def working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Def in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Wallrium is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mos Def! An out of breath Mos Def thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
