Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jupiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillips comes to the cage accompanied by Wicked game. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Phillips!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Jupiter!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jupiter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jupiter lands in his opponent's guard.

Phillips looking for a guillotine here but Jupiter defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phillips has control of Jupiter's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jupiter regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Jupiter is trying desperately to improve position.
Jupiter tries to hold on but Phillips postures up.
Jupiter is wriggling around trying to escape.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jupiter sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Phillips is keen to just control but Jupiter is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mark Phillips will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jupiter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jupiter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jupiter goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Phillips has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jupiter but great work by Phillips.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Phillips thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jupiter's head.
Phillips landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Phillips uses his free foot to push down on Jupiter's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jupiter.
Jupiter sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jupiter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Phillips got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jupiter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Phillips has managed to get both his arms back between Jupiter's legs - danger averted.

Jupiter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phillips gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jupiter is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

Jupiter has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Phillips. Oh but Jupiter has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Phillips goes limp - he's gone! Jupiter jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 4, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jim Jupiter!
Jim Jupiter is the new lightweight champion!
Jim Jupiter decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
The defeated Mark Phillips had this to say: 'Thanks to Elite Fight League Rio for the opportunity to fight for the title. I will come back better and stronger and I will get that title around my waist! I know I deserve it.'.
