Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shamar Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borat Sagdiyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Freak on a Leash. Sagdiyev has chosen Mamaliga as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Shamar Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Borat Sagdiyev!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson tries for a takedown but Sagdiyev circles away easily
and Sagdiyev counters with a stiff right hand.
Jackson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sagdiyev finds it's way round the side to connect with Jackson's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sagdiyev. Jackson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jackson misses with a double jab.
Jackson looks to land a left hand but Sagdiyev moved out of range nicely.
Jackson avoids the body shot from Sagdiyev.
Jackson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jackson fails to land the takedown.
Sagdiyev is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Jackson slips a straight right by Sagdiyev.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sagdiyev misses with a looping right.
Sagdiyev missing with a left hand there. Jackson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sagdiyev throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Jackson. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Jackson slips a straight right by Sagdiyev.
Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Sagdiyev tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sagdiyev manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jackson lands with a cross.

A slow jab from Jackson misses its intended target.

Jackson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Sagdiyev throws a hook but Jackson blocks it.
Sagdiyev misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely.
Sagdiyev scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sagdiyev throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jackson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sagdiyev.
Sagdiyev might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sagdiyev as he jumps to the side.
Jackson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sagdiyev counters with a low kick, right behind Jackson 's knee.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sagdiyev scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jackson doesn't seem bothered though.
Sagdiyev stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Borat Sagdiyev dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Sagdiyev shows good takedown defense.

Sagdiyev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sagdiyev.

Jackson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sagdiyev scores with a decent looking hook.
Nice shot lands for Jackson.

Jackson swings around for an armbar but Sagdiyev sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jackson's guard.
Jackson is trying to keep Sagdiyev in close.
Jackson wants to hit a switch here but Sagdiyev passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jackson there!
Sagdiyev controlling the position easily from mount.
Jackson is looking to improve his position but Sagdiyev isn't that keen on the idea.

Sagdiyev stands up from mount. Strange move.
Jackson listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Jackson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sagdiyev wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Jackson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Sagdiyev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jackson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson is working for a submission of some sort.
Sagdiyev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jackson.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jackson stops Sagdiyev from getting back to his feet.
Sagdiyev is looking to improve his position.
Jackson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Jackson is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Sagdiyev as he works his way to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jackson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sagdiyev looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sagdiyev looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sagdiyev!
Jackson looking for a sweep but Sagdiyev has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Sagdiyev wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shamar Jackson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Sagdiyev cracks Jackson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jackson dives in and grabs Sagdiyev's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sagdiyev pushes down on Jackson's head and hops out.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Sagdiyev tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sagdiyev manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Borat Sagdiyev seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sagdiyev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jackson throws out the jab.
Jackson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sagdiyev's head backwards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sagdiyev gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Jackson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Sagdiyev pulls Jackson in close to prevent any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sagdiyev is on top in guard.

Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Sagdiyev holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jackson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Sagdiyev stops Jackson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Sagdiyev is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jackson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sagdiyev turns into him and now he's in Jackson's guard.

Jackson wants to control but Sagdiyev is having none of it.
Jackson manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jackson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Sagdiyev has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Jackson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson tries to get to full guard but Sagdiyev has control of the leg.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shamar Jackson.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
