The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ilves tries for a takedown but Wood sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ilves drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wood is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wood keeping full guard, as Ilves tries to pass.
Ilves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wood dives on top into guard.

Ilves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wood doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wood manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ilves had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wood is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ilves Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wood's back instead.

Ilves is persistently looking for the submission but Wood is defending it well.
Ilves looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Wood is controlling Ilves 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
Wood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ilves is keeping the position for now.

Wood avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ilves working for submissions but it's allowed Wood to get to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ilves slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Ilves is looking for a triangle here but Wood uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Ilves is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Wood is trying to escape and Ilves transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Wood is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ilves! Very nice indeed!
