Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thurgood Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zak Drezner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins comes to the cage accompanied by Mary Jane. The crowd seem to be enjoying Drezner's choice of entrance music: Cypress Hill - Checkmate. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thurgood Jenkins! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 7 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zak Drezner! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drezner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Drezner tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Jenkins as Drezner tries to tie him up. Drezner throws a knee to the head but misses.
Drezner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A big left from Jenkins misses. Jenkins shoots in but no luck this time. Drezner throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jenkins.
It looks like Thurgood Jenkins has been cut. Drezner's corner calls for a 1-2. Drezner obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Jenkins walks forward, straight into a front kick from Drezner. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Drezner misses the shot to the body. Drezner scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Drezner scores with a nice right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drezner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jenkins. Drezner scores with a kick to the body.
Drezner clinches. Drezner lands on the inside with an uppercut. Jenkins holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Drezner wants to get back to striking at distance but Jenkins won't allow it.
Drezner lands an elbow inside. Drezner tries to break free but Jenkins pushes him back against the cage. Drezner throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jenkinss head. Drezner working hard to break the clinch. Jenkins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Drezner avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drezner lands an elbow inside. Drezner misses with an elbow over the top. A battle for position here, against the cage. Jenkins tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thurgood Jenkins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jenkins stalls. A head punch on the inside from Drezner fails to land. Drezner misses with a body punch.
Drezner pushes off an throws an elbow but Jenkins leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Drezner is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Jenkins has Drezner pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Drezner manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A head punch blocked on the inside by Jenkins.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drezner misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jenkins keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Drezner's efforts to push away. Drezner looking to slow down the pace here. Drezner scores with a shoulder strike.
Jenkins is rocked! Drezner lands a damaging elbow. Oh Jenkins is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Drezner breaks from the clinch.
Jenkins gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Drezner points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Jenkins wakes up just in time to hear Drezner thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zak Drezner! Zak Drezner is the new lightweight champion! An out of breath Zak Drezner thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
