Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bomber misses with a takedown attempt
and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bomber's guard now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Smith lands a couple of digs.
Smith postures up in Bomber's guard and throws a big left but Bomber blocks it.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bomber striking off his back but it's not causing Smith any problems.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bomber's head.
Smith is fighting to break Bomber's control of his arms but Bomber is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bomber is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

Smith makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Bomber's temple.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smith lands a nice short elbow.

Smith lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Bomber quite badly. Bomber pulls Smith in close trying to recover. Smith postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Bomber on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Bomber doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Smith!
