Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noburo Kobayashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Carter!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kobayashi needs to keep his hands up - Carter had a free shot at his head there.
Kobayashi tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance.

Kobayashi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kobayashi lands in his opponent's guard.
Carter controls Kobayashi momentarily but Kobayashi frees himself.
Carter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Carter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kobayashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Carter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Carter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kobayashi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kobayashi wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kobayashi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kobayashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kobayashi is working hard here to advance position.

Kobayashi wants to stand but Carter is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kobayashi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kobayashi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kobayashi shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Kobayashi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kobayashi.
Carter wants to clinch.
Kobayashi tries to clinch
and Carter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Carter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kobayashi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Carter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carter stops Kobayashi from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kobayashi is looking for a sweep. Carter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kobayashi avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Carter.
Kobayashi is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carter is trying for a kimura here. Kobayashi looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Carter wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Andrew Carter!
