Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Dragon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Dragon!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Dragon misses with the combination.
Bob steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dragon.
Bob dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dragon. That did some damage!
Dragon misses with a right hand

and Bob counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Bob is trying to work for a kimura but Dragon is defending well.
Bob wants to control but Dragon is keeping him busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dragon can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bob wants to work for an arm triangle but Dragon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Dragon is looking to control Bob's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dragon avoid being mounted?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dragon is trying to stand back up but Bob is controlling him
Bob is taking a breather. Dragon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Dragon won't allow Bob to pass to mount.

Bob looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

BOOM! Bob connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Bob will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dragon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Bob wants to finish this one by submission but Dragon is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bob.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bob fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Bob is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dragon to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dragon shrugs it off.

Dragon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bob. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bob looking for the RNC.

Bob is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Dragon has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Bob has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Dragon taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Bob doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Big Bob!
Big Bob retains his heavyweight title!
Our winner, Big Bob, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
