Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeff McBride! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Cesar! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cesar scores with a takedown into McBride's guard. Cesar lands a couple of decent looking shots. Cesar with a flurry of punches that miss. Cesar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cesar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Cesar throws a big elbow that misses. Cesar is working McBride over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Cesar with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cesar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McBride works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cesar content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cesar postures up and lands a big shot to McBride's brow. McBride utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. McBride wants to sweep here but Cesar controlling him for the moment. Cesar lands a couple of digs.
It looks like Jeff McBride has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cesar postures up and lands a big shot to McBride's brow. Cesar forces his way into half guard. Cesar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Cesar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McBride defends it well. Cesar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cesar lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McBride trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McBride on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Jeff McBride's cut is getting worse. This has been an exciting period of action! Cesar lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. McBride is breathing heavily. Cesar working over McBride with some ground and pound. McBride looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jeff McBride's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. McBride is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cesar scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jeez, Jeff McBride's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jeff McBride's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
