Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniek Rondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amos Phantom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amos Phantom told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rondo moves into the clinch.
Knees to the body from Phantom.
Phantom has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rondo after a bit of a struggle.
Rondo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Phantom has him pressed against the cage.
Rondo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Phantom can't fight it off and eventually Rondo manages to take the fight to the floor. Phantom looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Phantom is working for takedown but Rondo is calmly controlling the position for now.
Phantom has Rondo pressed against the cage, preventing Rondo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Rondo lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Phantom.
Phantom gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rondo.
Phantom wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Phantom jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rondo walks away with a smile on his face. Phantom gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Daniek Rondo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Amos Phantom.
Phantom throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rondo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Phantom has closed the distance and engaged Rondo in a clinch.
Rondo takes a knee to the side of the body.
Rondo keeps control of Phantom as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Phantom jumps guard but Rondo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rondo goes for a takedown attempt but Phantom pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rondo is breathing heavily.

Phantom misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rondo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rondo drops an elbow to the side of Phantom's head.

Rondo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Phantom's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rondo seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rondo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Phantom keeps working.
Phantom is looking for a sweep. Rondo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's time! Rondo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rondo.
Phantom shoots for a takedown but Rondo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rondo moves in looking to clinch but Phantom pushes him off.
Phantom lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Rondo fails with the takedown.
Phantom tries to close the distance and clinch but Rondo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Phantom.

and Rondo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rondo.

Rondo stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Phantom gets caught napping as Rondo dives in and scores a takedown. Phantom manages to retain guard.
Rondo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Phantom not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rondo prevents Phantom from getting back to his feet.
Rondo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Phantom has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rondo is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Phantom.
Rondo stands up.
Rondo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Phantom slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Phantom has Rondo pulled in close to control his posture.

Rondo slips a nice elbow through Phantom's hands, connecting with Phantom's forehead.
Rondo uses his free foot to push down on Phantom's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Phantom.
Phantom is desperately trying to improve his position but Rondo has a good base and remains in mount.

Rondo wants to finish this one by submission but Phantom is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rondo.

Phantom wants to control but Rondo is having none of it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rondo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Phantom can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Phantom looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Daniek Rondo.
Rondo dives in and grabs Phantom's left leg, looking for a takedown. Phantom pushes down on Rondo's head and hops out.
Phantom scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rondo doesn't seem bothered though.
Phantom shoots in for a takedown but Rondo shows good takedown defense.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rondo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
