The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlyle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Slone was covering up waiting for the punch and Carlyle finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slone is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Carlyle wants to control from the top but Slone keeps moving.

Carlyle passes Slone's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Carlyle lands a big shot there that rocks Slone but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Slone wants to hold on but Carlyle pushes him away.
Carlyle breaks from Slone's wrist control and lands an elbow.
A big strike lands for Carlyle! That's really hurt Slone and he's turned his back - Carlyle keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Carlyle jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
