Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Percival Pellinore! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee shoots and misses and Pellinore counters with a nice double leg into guard. Pellinore loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pellinore trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lee has Pellinore pulled in close to control his posture. Pellinore throws a big elbow that misses. Pellinore is looking to work some ground and pound but Lee has wrist control. Pellinore trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pellinore looking to pass the guard. Pellinore postures up in Lee's guard and throws a big left but Lee blocks it. Lee utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pellinore works over Lee with some ground and pound from guard.
It looks like Freddy Lee has been cut. Pellinore pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lee is keeping the position for now. Pellinore lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Pellinore postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Lee tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pellinore stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Lee has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Pellinore manages to get his head free but now Lee has transitioned to an armbar! Pellinore grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Lee! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Freddy Lee! A less than humble Freddy Lee misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
