The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raptor throws the kick towards the body but Saffy avoids it.
Saffy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Raptor defends it nicely.

and Saffy counters with a shoot takedown. Raptor fights it but they end up in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Josh Saffy was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Saffy closes the distance and clinches up with Raptor, looking for a takedown. Saffy pushes Raptor against the cage but Raptor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Saffy shoots in looking for a takedown. Raptor tries to sprawl out of it but Saffy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Raptor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A head kick from Raptor lands but Saffy takes it in his stride.
Saffy's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Saffy sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Raptor fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Saffy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
