Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Geeves Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scuba Steve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Geeves Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scuba Steve!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve darts in trying to clinch
and Armstrong counters with a big head kick but Steve shrugs it off.
Armstrong lands a nice shot to the body.

Armstrong darts in and clinches Steve up against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Armstrong.
Armstrong prevents a takedown attempt there.

Armstrong breaks from the clinch.
A good leg kick by Armstrong.
Armstrong scores with a head kick.
Armstrong lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Armstrong tries to bum rush Steve with a series of wild strikes but Steve uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Steve fails with an attempt to clinch.
Armstrong with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Armstrong rushes Steve and presses him up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Armstrong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Steve takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Armstrong keeps Steve at a distance using the push kick.

Armstrong lands with a kick to the temple. Steve shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Armstrong could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Steve dodges the punch combination from Armstrong.
Steve tries to close the distance and clinch up but Armstrong swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Geeves Armstrong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Steve is trying hard to land a takedown here. Armstrong sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Steve shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Armstrong as he avoids it easily.

Armstrong rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steve moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Armstrong connects with a good right hand that stumbles Steve. Steve circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Armstrong rushes Steve and presses him up against the cage.

Armstrong drags the fight down to the ground.

Armstrong throws his legs up looking for a submission but Steve uses it to pass to side control.
Armstrong throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Armstrong throws a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Armstrong is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Steve is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Armstrong is trying desperately to improve position.
Steve can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Armstrong is looking to escape.
Armstrong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steve on the ground.

Steve can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Armstrong is looking to escape.
Armstrong tries to lock up and control but Steve gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Armstrong tries to clinch but Steve moves out of range.
Steve shoots for a double leg takedown but Armstrong sprawls well. He's pushed Steve's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Armstrong throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Steve.

Armstrong throws a nice head kick!
Armstrong scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Armstrong closes the distance and clinches.
Steve is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Steve is working for takedown but Armstrong is calmly controlling the position for now.
Armstrong wants to break the clinch but can't.
Armstrong is trying to pull guard but Steve has him pressed against the cage.
Armstrong keeps control of Steve as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Armstrong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick from Armstrong lands but Steve takes it in his stride.
Steve moves in looking to clinch but Armstrong pushes him off.

Steve shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Armstrong napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Steve tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Steve has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Armstrong wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Steve controlling well, preventing Armstrong from escaping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Steve is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Steve gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Steve gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Steve apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Armstrong tries to bum rush Steve with a series of wild strikes but Steve uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Armstrong throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Steve shoots in looking for a takedown but Armstrong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Steve's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Geeves Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scuba Steve.

Armstrong ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Steve with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Armstrong to score with a decent uppercut.

Steve has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Armstrong avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Steve takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Armstrong looks to land a combination. Steve sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Steve shoots in for a takedown but Armstrong shows good takedown defense.
