Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jacob Andersen!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersen tries for a takedown but Mendez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Mendez counters with a shoot takedown. Andersen fights it but they end up in guard.
Andersen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mendez connects with a nice short shot to Andersen's temple.

Mendez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mendez's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Mendez is in close to Andersen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mendez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mendez works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Mendez wants to take a breather but Andersen is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andersen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mendez avoids it really well and circles away.

Fidel Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Andersen.

Mendez postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Andersen in real trouble here! The ref calls for Andersen to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fidel Mendez!
