Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lelouch Laperouge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mercito Gesta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercito Gesta told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lelouch Laperouge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mercito Gesta!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laperouge bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gesta's head.
Gesta uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Laperouge.
Laperouge lands a nice looking body shot.
Laperouge scores with a one two! Gesta had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Gesta forces Laperouge back against the cage and clinches.

Laperouge wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Laperouge has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Laperouge gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Laperouge is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gesta sees it coming and defends easily.
Laperouge is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gesta is just riding it out for now. Laperouge eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gesta has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Laperouge is working away from the top position though.

Laperouge frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Laperouge swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gesta is now in Laperouge's guard. A big mistake from Laperouge there, giving up the dominant position!

Gesta postures up in Laperouge's guard and throws a big left but Laperouge blocks it.

Gesta gets to his feet. Laperouge looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Laperouge swats away the attempt to clinch by Gesta.
Gesta is trying hard to land a takedown here. Laperouge sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lelouch Laperouge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laperouge keeps the fight on the outside.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Laperouge rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gesta moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Gesta shoots in for a double leg but Laperouge sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Laperouge uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Laperouge throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gesta stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Laperouge misses the jab.
Laperouge is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
A nice combination there by Laperouge.
Gesta avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A jab from Laperouge finds it's way through Gesta's defenses.

Laperouge's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gesta under the eye.
Laperouge thows a body shot but no joy.
Laperouge slaps away a takedown attempt from Gesta, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lelouch Laperouge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mercito Gesta.
Gesta rushes Laperouge and presses him up against the cage.
Laperouge tries to circle away but Gesta has him pinned against the cage.
Gesta throws a knee to the head but misses.
Laperouge is trying to break the clinch but Gesta is controlling him.

The referee is keeping an eye on Gesta - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Gesta tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Gesta tries to score a body lock takedown but Laperouge shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gesta using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Laperouge has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Laperouge has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Laperouge can't break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lelouch Laperouge dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Laperouge dips to his left and cracks Gesta with an uppercut!
A big right from Laperouge misses.
Gesta shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Laperouge throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Laperouge swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gesta is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lelouch Laperouge is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Laperouge feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gesta is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Laperouge throws a big right hand that misses.
Laperouge chips away with some ground and pound.
Gesta looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Laperouge passes into side control.
Laperouge lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Laperouge cracks Gesta with a big right hand but Gesta just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Laperouge has hold of Gesta's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gesta tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Laperouge cranks the arm and Gesta screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gesta, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Lelouch Laperouge!
A very excited looking Lelouch Laperouge rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
