Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Miguel Fernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theo AtlaSon! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Fernandez.
It looks like Theo AtlaSon has been cut. Fernandez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fernandez throws a nice outside leg kick. AtlaSon takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Fernandez takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! AtlaSon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A head kick misses from AtlaSon. AtlaSon looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Fernandez with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A telegraphed right hand from Fernandez misses the target. Fernandez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Fernandez takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Fernandez takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

and AtlaSon counters by clinching up. AtlaSon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. AtlaSon misses with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fernandez. Fernandez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Fernandez connects with a nice looking jab.
AtlaSon fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Fernandez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Fernandez slips a jab from AtlaSon. Fernandez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to AtlaSon's calf. AtlaSon misses with a looping right. Fernandez with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Theo AtlaSon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Both fighters circling a little - AtlaSon finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Fernandez throws a leg kick which misses AtlaSon's front leg but catches the back leg as AtlaSon tries to avoid it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. AtlaSon lands a nice leg kick that just misses Fernandez's sensitive parts. AtlaSon connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Fernandez's hands. Fernandez connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Fernandez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but AtlaSon manages to avoid it. Fernandez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fernandez showed some decent athleticism there. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Fernandez moves into full mount! AtlaSon won't be happy about that!
That's two minutes gone in the round. AtlaSon sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fernandez is trying to control. AtlaSon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. AtlaSon trying to control but Fernandez postures up.
Fernandez not landing any meaningful shots this time. Fernandez winds up and cracks AtlaSon with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernandez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and AtlaSon reverses the position - he's now on top in Fernandez's guard. Fernandez looking to hit a scissor sweep but AtlaSon is one step ahead there. Fernandez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. AtlaSon throws a big elbow that misses. Fernandez managing to control the position. AtlaSon trying to control the position from guard on top but Fernandez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Fernandez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from AtlaSon. Fernandez avoids a kick to the body.
AtlaSon throws a right hand that Fernandez ducks under and follows up with a left that Fernandez also avoids with ease. Fernandez misses with a low kick as AtlaSon jumps back. Fernandez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. AtlaSon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fernandez. AtlaSon keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for AtlaSon. AtlaSon misses with a wild body shot. AtlaSon thows a body shot but no joy. AtlaSon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! AtlaSon darts in and out, connecting with a jab. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Fernandez throws a lazy body kick and AtlaSon moves into the clinch. AtlaSon is trying to force a seperation but Fernandez has the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Fernandez dominated that round. The cut man is working on Theo AtlaSon's cut. That's time! Fernandez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Good exchange - Fernandez coming out on top. AtlaSon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Miguel Fernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fernandez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on AtlaSon. That did some damage! AtlaSon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Fernandez thows a body shot but no joy. AtlaSon falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fernandez counters with a crisp right hand that drops AtlaSon! Fernandez lets AtlaSon back up to his feet, looking for a finish! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. AtlaSon walks straight into a right hand from Fernandez - that's dropped him! Fernandez jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save AtlaSon from any more punishment! AtlaSon complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Miguel Fernandez! After the fight, Miguel Fernandez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
