Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Dos Santos! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos circles away from the clinch attempt.
Santos slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
It looks like Frank Stevens has been cut. Stevens throws a right and a left that Santos avoids nicely. No joy there for Santos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Stevens is looking to take a break and control but Santos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Stevens is trying to get an arm triangle but Santos is defending well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Santos can do anything to dispel that myth. Santos is looking to regain half guard here but Stevens keeps moving and retains side control. Santos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stevens. Stevens is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Santos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stevens throwing shots but missing, from side control. Stevens thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Santos controls the position for a moment. Sloppy strikes there by Stevens. You can see the frustration on Santos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Stevens has hold of Santos's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Santos tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Stevens cranks the arm and Santos screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Santos, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
