Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ford Atlas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pernell McPhee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ford Atlas had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pernell McPhee!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atlas throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by McPhee.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McPhee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Atlas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McPhee defends it well.

Atlas wants to get up but he can't break McPhee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Atlas drops back, looking for a kneebar! McPhee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McPhee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McPhee!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd cheers as McPhee lands an impressive looking overhand right. Atlas doesn't seem phased though.

McPhee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Atlas sprawls well initially but McPhee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McPhee moves into the clinch successfully.
Our sources have told us that Atlas has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Atlas throws a knee to the head but misses.
McPhee throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Atlas blocks it with crossed arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Atlas closes the distance and clinches up with McPhee, looking for a takedown. Atlas pushes McPhee against the cage but McPhee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

McPhee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McPhee distracts Atlas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McPhee stands up over Atlas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Atlas has his foot on McPhee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McPhee works his way back into a safe position though.

Atlas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McPhee has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McPhee!

Atlas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McPhee, up you get!

Well McPhee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
