Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Almaz Method (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvi Kalaso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalaso has chosen Hank Williams SR. as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Almaz Method! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
38 - 32 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Harvi Kalaso! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Method dives in and grabs Kalaso's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kalaso pushes down on Method's head and hops out. Kalaso moves into the clinch successfully.
Kalaso unloads a knee to the mid-section. Method lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Kalaso landing knees to the head.

Kalaso lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kalaso gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Kalaso breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Method closes the distance but Kalaso moves to the side and Kalaso counters by moving into the clinch. Kalaso breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. He must have been working on that in the gym. Almaz Method seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kalaso takes the fight into the clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from Kalaso. Method goes for a takedown attempt but Kalaso pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Almaz Method. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kalaso closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. A lull in the action here as Kalaso stalls from top position. Kalaso creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Let's hope that Kalaso has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Method takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Method seems a little lost for a moment, as Kalaso dominates the positioning. Kalaso grinds an elbow into Method's temple. Kalaso looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kalaso tries for a kimura but Method is defending well. Method tries to bench press Kalaso off him but Kalaso keeps the position. Method pushes Kalaso away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kalaso gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Kalaso working the body and head with strikes. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Method tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kalaso wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalaso advances nicely into full mount. Kalaso lands a big shot there that rocks Method but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Kalaso prevents Method from getting the reversal. Kalaso content just to control the position here. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Method in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Kalaso in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Kalaso sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Method seems to have got his legs back now. Kalaso lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Method knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kalaso on the ground. Kalaso lands with some strikes. Kalaso controlling from mount. Kalaso is landing with some decent strikes but Method is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Method is looking to improve his position but Kalaso isn't that keen on the idea. Kalaso tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Harvi Kalaso dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kalaso is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Method is surviving well by controlling Kalaso's body position as best he can. Kalaso goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Method is on top in guard.

Kalaso seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kalaso drops back looking for a leg! Method is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Method manages to kick Kalaso off! Kalaso jumps back into Method's guard. Method controls Kalaso momentarily but Kalaso frees himself. Kalaso showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Kalaso has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

And that's the end of the fight! Harvi Kalaso comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kalaso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
