Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vic Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Vargas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vic Vader! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vader throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vargas misses with a takedown attempt and Vader counters with a solid body kick. Vader changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vargas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Vader grinds an elbow into Vargas's temple. Vargas being controlled for a moment. Vargas is looking for a sweep. Vader tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Vargas struggling a bit here. The strikes coming from Vader are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Vader wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vargas, who protects the arm well. Vader tries to move to mount but Vargas blocks the move with his legs.

Possibly, maybe, no Vader has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Vargas gets back to half guard. Vader looks winded! Vargas manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vargas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vader can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Vargas trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vader trying to control the position from guard on top but Vargas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Vader drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vader jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Vargas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Vargas tries to land a sweep but no joy. My spies in Cozad MMA Los Angeles inform me that Vader has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Vader pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vargas is keeping the position for now. Vader must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Vader is still trying to improve position. Vargas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vader can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Vader trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vargas is on top in guard.
Vader is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. This has been an exciting period of action! Vader wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vargas keeps working. Vader looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vader seems to be working for a kimura but Vargas defends the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vic Vader dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Vader leaves Vargas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Vader feints and as Vargas raises his hands in defense, Vader changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Vargas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Vader is sitting in close to Vargas's body. Vargas has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Vader is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Vader is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Vargas.
