The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akali looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gu is fending him off so far but Akali persists. Nope, Gu circles away and we're back to standing. Akali tries to clinch up and Gu counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gu. Gu lands a nice uppercut. Akali misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gu.
Akali is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gu is defending well for now. A nice left hand lands by Gu.

Still in the clinch, Gu scores with a nice short uppercut. Gu lands with a short shot to the head. Gu lands an uppercut. Gu gets underhooks to prevent Akali's takedown attempt.
Young Gu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leo Akali. Gu lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Akali is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gu working some nice short punches in the clinch. Our sources have told us that Gu has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Gu digs a right hand underneath Akali's ribcage. Akali let out a lung full of air as it connected. Akali looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gu lands on the inside with an uppercut. Gu lands a right hand. Gu lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Akali is rocked! Gu softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Akali is still on wobbly legs! Can Gu finish him? A short right from Gu. A head punch blocked on the inside by Akali. Akali trying to land knees to the body.
Gu misses with some punches.
Gu working the clinch nicely. Akali is working for position but Gu cracks him with a big knee to the head! Akali crumples up against the cage and Gu lands two more shots before the ref can save Akali! This one is all over!

Young Gu spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
