PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Albert White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: The Climb-Mylie Cyrus. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Albert White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White.
Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from White.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Jones - that will leave a mark!

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones not doing much here.

Jones decides to stand and escape the position.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. White was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones forces his way into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones tries to clinch but White moves out of range.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into White's guard.
Jones controls from within his opponent's guard.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

White avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
White looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jon Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Jones thows a body shot but no joy.
Albert White is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones misses with a body punch
and White makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. White did well to prevent Jones getting side control.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.
White trying to control here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around White's waist but White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jones fails in his attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. White did well to prevent Jones getting side control.
White is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots.

Jon Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jon Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jones shoots in and bounces White off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
White wants to control but Jones passes easily into half guard.

White tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
White trying to control from the bottom.
White keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Jones not doing much here.

Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jones stops White from getting back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Albert White just wasn't active enough.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
White circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jones slips a jab from White.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts White as he jumps to the side.
Albert White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Jones.
Jones is breathing heavily.
White thows a body shot but no joy.
White avoids the head kick by Jones.
White misses the shot to the body.
White works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
White throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
White wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
White scores with a jab to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jones misses with a takedown attempt - White sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
White swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Jones feints and as White raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
White might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones is stalling in the full guard.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
White is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jon Jones wasn't active enough on the ground.
White tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones tries to clinch but White moves out of range.

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches White napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jones just content to control the position.
White is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White bucks up and tries to throw Jones off but instead Jones has got his back!
White tries to break free.

Jones is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
What can White do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

White holding both Jones 's hands and preventing any damage.
Albert White has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure White doesn't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jon Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee.
White throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jon Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
