Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Gein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jie Liu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gein comes to the cage accompanied by Dead Skin Mask. Liu has chosen The Cinematic Orchestra ft. Roots Manuva - All Things To All Men as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jie Liu enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gein takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ed Gein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Liu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gein.

Liu closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gein's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Liu has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Gein is landing a low percentage of strikes.

A slapping leg kick lands for Liu.
Gein wants to slow Liu down by chopping away at his legs.

A looping hook to the body misses from Liu. Gein does a little dance to reset his feet.

Gein fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Liu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Liu thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gein if he has to take too many more of those.
Liu tries to close the distance and clinch but Gein swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gein takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Liu throws a head kick but Gein moves out of range.

and Liu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Liu dives in and grabs Gein's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gein pushes down on Liu's head and hops out.

We've been told by Gein's head coaches at Manu's Kiwi Beer Barn - PIT Inc. that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Gein tries to bench press Liu off him but Liu keeps the position.
Gein is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Liu's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The fighters circle momentarily. Gein darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Liu takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Gein is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gein looks to land a strike but Liu avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Liu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
