Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sonic Boom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin closes the distance but Boom moves to the side
and Boom counters with a nice low kick that buckles Karelin's knee momentarily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Karelin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Boom has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Boom and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Karelin is looking to clinch.
Karelin has his takedown stuffed
and Boom counters with a thumping low kick.
Boom connects with an inside leg kick.
Karelin moves in looking to clinch but Boom pushes him off.
Karelin throws a combination that misses
and Boom counters with a good low kick that Karelin was not able to check.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Boom, right into the meat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom delivers a nice body kick.
Karelin looks winded!
Boom goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Aleksandr Karelin has been cut.
An inside leg kick lands from Boom.
Boom throws a quick head kick that knocks Karelin silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Boom is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Sonic Boom!
A very excited looking Sonic Boom made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
