Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Borys Grabowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jordan Mutch! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mutch tries to clinch but fails miserably and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Mutch takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Mutch tries to clinch but Grabowski is having none of it. Mutch takes the fight into the clinch. Grabowski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grabowski throws a series of punches but Mutch avoids them all with ease. We've been told by Grabowski's head coaches at ACME! Thai Boxing Academy 13 ELITE COACHES & SAUNA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Mutch throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grabowski's waist but Grabowski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mutch off to one side. Grabowski misses with a kick to the body.
Mutch on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Grabowski. Grabowski obviously looking to wear him down.
Mutch pushes Grabowski up against the cage in a clinch. The referee is keeping an eye on Mutch - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Grabowski manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mutch dips to his left and cracks Grabowski with an uppercut! A head kick misses from Mutch. Mutch is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Grabowski. Grabowski fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mutch tries to bum rush Grabowski with a series of wild strikes but Grabowski uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mutch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mutch misses with a few strikes there.
Good standup being displayed there by Grabowski as he connects with a hook. Nice uppercut there from Mutch. Mutch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Grabowski counters with a stiff right hand. Mutch darts in looking for a takedown but Grabowski gets double underhooks and turns Mutch into the cage. Borys Grabowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Mutch. Mutch has Grabowski pressed against the cage, preventing Grabowski from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Mutch is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Grabowski pulls him back up using the underhooks. Mutch is trying to drag Grabowski to the mat but Grabowski just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mutch manages to pull guard.
Mutch looking for subs off his back but Grabowski has passed one foot through into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Grabowski controlling the pace. Mutch punching from the bottom.
Mutch looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mutch tries to get to full guard but Grabowski has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grabowski is figuring out what he wants to do next. Grabowski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mutch keeps working. Grabowski is looking to pass Mutch's guard but actually Mutch recovers to full guard. Grabowski controlling from the top position. Mutch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Grabowski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mutch is tightening it up a little... Grabowski has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Grabowski reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Grabowski taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mutch!
