Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeromy Mccullough! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Laws! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Mccullough. Mccullough shoots in looking for a takedown. Laws tries to sprawl out of it but Mccullough keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Laws manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Laws shoots in for a takedown but Mccullough shows good takedown defense. Good leg kick by Mccullough there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Laws slaps away a takedown attempt from Mccullough, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck for Mccullough with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeromy Mccullough. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mccullough keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mccullough doesn't manage to clinch there - Laws circles away.
Mccullough shoots in and drives through. Laws sprawls well. Laws stuffs the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mccullough tries to close the distance and clinch but Laws swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mccullough. Mccullough is breathing heavily. Laws closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mccullough to the mat! Mccullough manages to get full guard. Laws won't allow Mccullough to sweep him here. Laws throwing strikes from guard but Mccullough blocks nicely. Laws trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Laws stays in close to Mccullough's body and controls the position. Laws looking to sit in guard and control but Mccullough gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mccullough trying to control but Laws is working from the bottom. Mccullough working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Laws looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Laws is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mccullough with a flurry of punches that miss. Mccullough missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laws working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mccullough doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Laws is tightening it up a little... Mccullough has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mccullough reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mccullough taps out! Nice BJJ there by Laws!
