The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sliva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Acevedo was covering up waiting for the punch and Sliva finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sliva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sliva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Luiz Sliva has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sliva has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Acevedo.
Acevedo looks for a takedown but Sliva sprawls well.
Sliva dives in and scores a takedown into Acevedo's guard.

Acevedo darts in looking for a takedown but Sliva gets double underhooks and turns Acevedo into the cage.
Sliva is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Acevedo pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Acevedo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Acevedo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sliva sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Luiz Sliva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Acevedo.

Acevedo is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sliva to keep the fight standing.

Acevedo throws an elbow that misses. Sliva uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Acevedo's guard. Nice move by Sliva!

Acevedo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Acevedo prevents Sliva from standing back up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Luiz Sliva just wasn't active enough.
Sliva dives in for a single leg takedown but Acevedo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Sliva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Acevedo.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sliva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Acevedo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sliva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
