Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hayden Kemp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patty Mills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hayden Kemp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patty Mills!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kemp moves into the clinch.
Mills landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Mills is trying to pull guard but Kemp turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mills misses with a knee to the head.

Mills has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kemp uses from the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mills not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kemp slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mills controls Kemp momentarily but Kemp frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mills jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Kemp darts in looking for a takedown but Mills gets double underhooks and turns Kemp into the cage.

Mills looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Kemp manages to break the clinch.
Mills throws the left hand but Kemp avoids the punch easily.

Kemp gets a clinch.
Kemp wants to take the fight to the mat but Mills manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kemp displaying some good clinch control by pressing Mills up against the cage.
Mills wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kemp is trying to pull guard but Mills turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hayden Kemp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kemp jumps guard but Mills stands there with Kemp around his waist. Kemp gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kemp pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mills jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mills should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mills misses with a wild combination.

Mills rushes Kemp and presses him up against the cage.
Kemp really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kemp pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kemp gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Mills holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Mills has eaten all the pies!

Kemp breaks from the clinch.
Kemp fails to land the takedown.
Mills uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kemp.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kemp avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mills shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mills was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mills stands up and beckons Kemp to his feet.
Mills avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kemp moves into the clinch.
Nice elbow from Kemp.
Kemp is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mills gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Kemp is breathing heavily.

Kemp misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mills.
Kemp is trying to drag Mills to the mat but Mills just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mills jumps guard.
Mills wants to stand up but Kemp is controlling him.
Mills is pulling down on Kemp's head to control his posture.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kemp throws a big elbow that misses.
Kemp won't allow Mills to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Patty Mills will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mills clinches up against the cage.
Mills is trying to break the clinch but Kemp has him pressed against the cage.

Mills has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kemp is trying to keep an underhook but Mills manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Mills is thwarting Kemp's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mills missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Kemp tries to get to full guard but Mills has control of the leg.
Mills perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mills is looking to take a break and control but Kemp is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kemp trying to hold on to Mills's head to control him but Mills postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mills fails with a takedown attempt.
Kemp tries a head kick but it misses.
Kemp lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kemp.
Kemp shoots in looking for a takedown but Mills manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kemp's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kemp lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mills circles away quickly and effectively.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mills jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kemp walks away with a smile on his face. Mills gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mills avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mills closes the distance and clinches up with Kemp, looking for a takedown. Mills pushes Kemp against the cage but Kemp circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hayden Kemp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patty Mills.

Mills cracks Kemp with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mills wants to clinch.
Hayden Kemp is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kemp enables Mills to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kemp manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mills accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kemp controls Mills momentarily but Mills frees himself.
Kemp is looking to stand up but Mills isn't so interested in that idea.

Mills postures up and lands a big shot to Kemp's brow.
Mills throws a big right hand that misses.
Kemp is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hayden Kemp.
Mills throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kemp sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mills will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kemp misses with a head kick.

Kemp shoots in and drives through. Mills sprawls well.
Kemp throws a sloppy head kick and Mills moves out of range easily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mills!
Mills lands with a cross.
Kemp moves out of range of the strikes.
Kemp throws a head kick that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mills fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kemp gets a clinch.
Mills tries to circle away but Kemp has him pinned against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patty Mills showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Mills shoots in for a takedown but Kemp shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mills shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kemp is trying to defend but Mills finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mills connects with a nice short shot to Kemp's temple.

Mills is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kemp manages to get to full guard.

Kemp looking for a guillotine here but Mills defends easily.

Mills wants to control from the top but Kemp keeps moving.

Mills gets to his feet. Kemp looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mills takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mills misses with a two punch combination.
Kemp tries to clinch up.
Mills will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mills stalks Kemp and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kemp's face. Kemp staggers backwards, shaken.

Kemp ducks under a wild hook from Mills.
Kemp shoots in but Mills avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mills swats away the attempt to clinch by Kemp.
Kemp attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mills.
Kemp shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mills as he avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kemp lands with a kick to the temple. Mills shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kemp tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mills defends well and Kemp ends up having to push Mills into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Mills is looking to break free of the clinch but Kemp has double underhooks.

Kemp jumps into guard, dragging Mills to the mat.
Mills chips away with some ground and pound.
Mills postures up in Kemp's guard and throws a big left but Kemp blocks it.
Mills wants to pass the guard but Kemp is keeping the position.

Kemp pushes Mills off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Mills misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kemp misses with a few strikes there.
Mills is looking to clinch.
Mills lands with a nice combination. Kemp backs away looking to recover.
Kemp tries to clinch but Mills moves out of range.
Hayden Kemp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mills feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kemps jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A jab from Mills misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mills closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kemp circles away.
Patty Mills is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kemp fails to land the takedown.
Hayden Kemp has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mills scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Patty Mills comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mills has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
