PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shezzo Wicked (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David comes to the cage accompanied by Craig David - Rise and Fall. Wicked is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Takin U' High by Greyhoundz. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Craig David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shezzo Wicked!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David avoids a punch combination nicely.

Wicked gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows David to score an easy takedown into full guard.
David is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Wicked working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from David.
David throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wicked works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wicked wants to stand but David is controlling the position.
David throwing strikes from guard but Wicked blocks nicely.

David distracts Wicked with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
David missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
David is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Main Event Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
David lands a couple of digs.
David in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Wicked wants to get back to his feet but David is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
David wants to pass the guard but Wicked is keeping the position.

David lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

David postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
David cracks Wicked with a solid left hand.
David missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as David accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
David sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wicked's guard.

David is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wicked defends it well.
David has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
David thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wicked's head.
David thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
David not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Wicked avoiding damage under a succession of punches from David.
Wicked keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

David seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
David is trying to control. Wicked wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Wicked really doesn't want to stay on the ground with David. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
David thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wicked's head.
David lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig David dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Craig David's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wicked stalks David and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into David's face. David staggers backwards, shaken.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Wicked!
Wicked tests David's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wicked lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Wicked tries a low kick but David avoids it.
David swinging wildly here.

Wicked gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
David postures up and lands a big shot to Wicked's brow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
David sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wicked's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
David seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

David is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wicked is just riding it out for now. David eventually gives up the hold.

David thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

David looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
David working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


Wicked is rocked!

David is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wicked is still in real trouble! Can David finish him?
David lands a big elbow - Wicked is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for David!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Craig David!
An out of breath and clearly excited Craig David thanked Das Labor for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
