Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Zachariah Newman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonathan St Pierre! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from St Pierre. Newman tries a head kick but it misses.
Jonathan St Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Newman looks for a takedown but St Pierre sprawls well. St Pierre tries to bum rush Newman with a series of wild strikes but Newman uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Newman shoots for a takedown but St Pierre saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. St Pierre has a takedown stuffed. St Pierre wants to clinch up but Newman keeps it at a distance. Newman checks a leg kick. Newman swats away the attempt to clinch by St Pierre. St Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Newman paws at him with a jab and circles away. Newman has St Pierre up against the cage in a clinch.
St Pierre tries to circle away but Newman has him pinned against the cage. Newman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. St Pierre drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre throws an elbow that misses.
Newman keeps control of St Pierre as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. St Pierre wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Newman has him pressed against the cage. St Pierre can't break the clinch.
Newman pulls guard. Newman is controlling St Pierre's posture. St Pierre working some strikes from top position. Newman managing to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. St Pierre throws an elbow that misses. Newman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in St Pierre's guard. Nice move by Newman!
That's two minutes gone in the round. St Pierre has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Newman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for St Pierre. St Pierre is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Newman asserts his dominance and retains side control. St Pierre looks winded! St Pierre is letting Newman control him for a moment. St Pierre bucks up and tries to throw Newman off but instead Newman has got his back! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. St Pierre looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. That's three minutes gone in the round. Newman gets his hands free as St Pierre looks to control. Newman controls the action. Newman connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for St Pierre to escape the position.

Newman is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. St Pierre has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Newman has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! St Pierre taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Newman doesn't care though - he's delighted!
