The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Pena, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pena uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Palmer.
Palmer takes a swing at Pena's ribcage but misses.
Pena connects with the punch.
Pena throws a right and a left that Palmer avoids nicely.
Jimmy Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A left lands for Palmer.
It looks like Puntti Pena has been cut.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Palmer slips under a jab from Pena.
Pena rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Palmer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Palmer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pena looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Pena walks into a stiff left hand from Palmer.
Some wild striking there from Pena.
Palmer bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Palmer lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pena down.

Palmer in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pena gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Palmer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
