Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Abbott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Ambros! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbott drives through with a takedown into Ambros's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Abbott is looking to stand up but Ambros won't let him. Abbott is fighting to break Ambros's control of his arms but Ambros is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Abbott engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Ambros is trying to keep Abbott in close.
Ambros really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abbott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Abbott looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ivan Abbott. Ambros has his takedown stuffed and Abbott holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Ambros changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Abbott fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ambros goes for a double leg but Abbott avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Abbott continues to drive forward. Ivan Abbott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Ambros.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abbott successfully pulls guard.
Abbott pulls Ambros in close to his closed guard and prevents Ambros from doing any damage or advancing position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ambros stays in close to Abbott's body and controls the position. Abbott is trying to keep Ambros in close.
Ivan Abbott has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Ambros goes for a double leg but Abbott avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Abbott continues to drive forward.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abbott jumps guard but Ambros turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Ambros ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ambros no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Abbott has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ambros is proving hard to escape from. Abbott stays in close to Ambros's body and controls the position. Ambros throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Abbott wants to get up but he can't break Ambros's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Abbott slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abbott working the head and body with strikes. Ambros tries to buck Abbott off but Abbott is having none of it. Abbott could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Abbott trying to control the action but Ambros is working from the bottom. A lull in the action here as Abbott stalls from top position. Ambros prevents Abbott from improving position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ambros pushes Abbott away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Abbott gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Ambros manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Abbott trying to control the action but Ambros is working from the bottom. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Abbott wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Ambros uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Abbott controlling from the top position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ivan Abbott wasn't doing enough on the ground. Abbott changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ambros looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. Abbott tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ambros manages to work his way to half guard, despite Abbott's best efforts. Abbott sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ambros defending well though. Ambros is looking to control Abbott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ambros avoid being mounted? Ambros tries to get to full guard but Abbott has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abbott is controlling the pace.
Ambros is looking to improve his position.
Abbott uses his free foot to push down on Ambros's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ambros. Ambros tries to hold on but Abbott postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abbott unloading with bombs! Ambros working to try and regain half guard.
Abbott tries to control but Ambros wriggling away. Ambros really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Ambros is breathing heavily. Abbott sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Ambros wants to hold on but Abbott pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ambros is in a horrible position here. Abbott smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ambros tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abbott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ambros somewhat. Abbott is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ivan Abbott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ambros looks for a takedown but Abbott sprawls well. Abbott throws a head kick but Ambros moves out of range.

Ambros takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ambros shoots and misses and Abbott counters with a one-two to the body. A bone on bone clash there as Ambros blocks the leg kick.
Ambros fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Abbott avoids it really well and circles away. Abbott shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ambros is trying to defend but Abbott finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Abbott seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ambros is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
