Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donovan Bagcal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Tyler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Donovan Bagcal! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tyler's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Tyler duly obliges.
It looks like Donovan Bagcal has been cut. Tyler scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Tyler misses with a few strikes there.

Tyler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tyler throws a one two combo.
Bagcal shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tyler defends it nicely. Tyler throws a right and a left that both miss. A head kick misses from Bagcal. Tyler instigates a clinch. Bagcal tries to land knees in the clinch but Tyler avoids the damage to the body. Bagcal tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Bagcal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. John Tyler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tyler misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tyler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bagcal to score an easy takedown into full guard. Tyler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Tyler is breathing heavily. Bagcal tries to free his leg and advance position but Tyler is retaining full guard. Bagcal trying to control the position from guard on top but Tyler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bagcal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bagcal stops Tyler from standing up. Bagcal has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bagcal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bagcal with a flurry of punches that miss. Bagcal trying to control the position from guard on top but Tyler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bagcal would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A right-left combo lands from Tyler. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tyler slaps away a takedown attempt from Bagcal, before circling back to the center of the mat. A punch combination from Tyler misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Tyler misses. Bagcal will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. John Tyler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donovan Bagcal. Bagcal misses with a series of wild punches.
Tyler shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bagcal eats them both and turns towards Tyler to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Tyler throws a right and a left that both miss. Tyler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Bagcal fails with a takedown attempt. Tyler misses with the combination.

Bagcal darts in looking for a takedown but Tyler gets double underhooks and turns Bagcal into the cage. Bagcal tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tyler is trying to break the clinch but Bagcal has him pressed against the cage. Tyler wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Tyler tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bagcal just stands there and leans against the cage. We've been informed that Bagcal has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Bagcal is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tyler wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bagcal throws a knee to the head but misses.
Tyler tries to circle away but Bagcal has him pinned against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler closes the distance and clinches. Bagcal utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Bagcal drops down looking for an ankle pick but Tyler pulls his leg out and moves away.

Tyler throws a right and a left that Bagcal avoids nicely. Tyler lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bagcal circles away quickly and effectively. Tyler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bagcal. John Tyler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donovan Bagcal. Tyler closes the distance and lands a one-two. Tyler looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bagcal tries to clinch up. Tyler throws a nice looking combination but Bagcal bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

A combination from Tyler does no damage. Tyler is working the combinations to good effect here. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bagcal is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bagcal tries to sprawl but Tyler drives through with a takedown into half guard. Tyler decides to stand up. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bagcal. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tyler misses with a two punch combination.

Bagcal seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tyler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Donovan Bagcal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tyler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tyler tries to get out of the position. Bagcal prevents Tyler from standing back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bagcal is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tyler defends it well. Donovan Bagcal has got the better of the ground game so far. Tyler kicks Bagcal off and gets back to his feet. Tyler lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bagcal backs up against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tyler scores with a one two! Bagcal had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. John Tyler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. A right-left combo lands from Tyler.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Tyler. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tyler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
