Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Morand! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick James! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morand throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. James lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
James lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Morand at a distance.
Morand drives through and clinches with James against the cage.

James has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A head punch blocked on the inside by Morand. Morand breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

James is trying to break the clinch but Morand has him pressed against the cage. James on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

James throws a nice looking combination but Morand bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. James cracks a nice hook into Morand's ribs. James scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Morand doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! James scores with a sloppy right hand. Morand should have avoided that one. James cracks Morand with a right hand to the side of the head. James ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. James swinging wildly here.

James looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. James swings wildly with an uppercut but Morand uses good head movement to avoid it. Morand wriggles free and stands up. James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Morand has time to react. James lands a body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action! A left and a right from James both land. Nice combination. Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing. Nice straight punches there by James. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of James. James fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Morand on the side of the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. James dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Rick James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Morand slips a jab and a cross from James.
The fight moves into the clinch position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Good standup being displayed there by James as he connects with a hook. James leaves Morand with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A shot to the liver by James. Beautiful body shot. James scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. James bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Morand's head backwards. James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Morand holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. James blocks an elbow strike. Morand stalling.
Morand breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. James lands with a cross. James fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

and James counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing. Morand throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

James throws a wild combination but nothing lands. James jabs at Morand's body. Nice uppercut there from James. James scores with a body shot.
Morand changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Morand remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morand's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. James tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. James wants to control but Morand is having none of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Morand is in the full mount, landing strikes. Morand lands a heavy elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Morand lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Morand with shots to the head and body - James looks very uncomfortable down there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! James in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Morand looking to control and managing it successfully. Morand scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish James?

George Morand dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
James moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Morand misses with a left hand and James counters with a left to the body. Morand rushes James and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Morand has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. James is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. James wants to get back to striking at distance but Morand won't allow it.
Morand throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jamess head. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Morand just misses with a elbow thrown towards James's brow. James working hard to break the clinch. James tries to break free but Morand pushes him back against the cage. Morand escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James moves into range and connects with a jab. James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Morand moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Morand takes a shot right to the bread basket. James scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morand gets in close and instigates a clinch. Morand lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Morand is trying to drag James to the mat but James just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. James wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

George Morand overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Morand pushes James off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. James showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Morand.

James scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. James works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! James feints a jab promting Morand to slip. James then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Morand slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Morand misses with a takedown attempt - James sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Morand. That's going to take a lot out of him. James lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James stalks Morand and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Morand's face. Morand staggers backwards, shaken. Jab from James. Morand doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts James, as that shot connected.
James connects with a good right hand that stumbles Morand. Morand circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Rick James seems to be getting the better of the standup. James circles away from the clinch attempt.
James's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and James duly obliges. Morand looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. James throws a series of strikes that have Morand backpedaling.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts James, as that shot connected.
A combination from James does no damage. Morand takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Morand on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Morand lands with a thumping leg kick.
Morand takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
