Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andy Tanner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Free Gves!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tanner closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gves did well to prevent Tanner getting side control.
Tanner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Tanner wants to stand but Gves has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Tanner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gves has hold of Tanner's hands but Tanner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gves has a hand on Tanner's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Tanner takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Tanner wants to finish this one by submission but Gves is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tanner.

Gves closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Tanner drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tanner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tanner has managed to get both his arms back between Gves's legs - danger averted.
Tanner is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Tanner manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gves to take his back!
What can Gves do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We're going to have a standup here because Andy Tanner wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Gves catches Tanner with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Gves feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tanners jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Gves throws a hook to the side of Tanner's head but Tanner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Tanner not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Andy Tanner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gves working for a triangle but Tanner defends it easily.
Gves is breathing heavily.

Gves looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tanner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Free Gves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tanner with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gves to score with a decent uppercut.

Gves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tanner.

Gves is looking for a sweep. Tanner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Gves is looking to improve his position.

Gves is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tanner pulls his head out easily.

Tanner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andy Tanner.

Tanner closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gves's guard.
Gves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tanner controls the pace.
Andy Tanner is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tanner is pushing down on Gves's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gves is fighting to maintain full guard but Tanner has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tanner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
