PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dirk Pitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pitt comes to the cage accompanied by Pitt Don't Play Dat. Summers has chosen Conflict-Disturbed as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dirk Pitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Summers!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Pitt as Summers shoots in.
Summers on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Good leg kick by Pitt there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Nathan Summers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pitt stuffs the takedown attempt from Summers. Summers gets slowly back to his feet.
Pitt chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Pitt throws a front kick aimed at Summers's knee but Summers avoids it well.
Summers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pitt as he jumps to the side.
Dirk Pitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Summers.
Summers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pitt sprawls well. Pitt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Summers gets slowly back to his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pitt, as that shot connected.
An inside leg kick lands from Pitt.
Summers takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Summers shoots for a double leg takedown but Pitt sprawls well. He's pushed Summers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Summers lands with a thumping leg kick.
Summers misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Summers tries a head kick but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Summers takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Summers takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Pitt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Summers looks winded!
Pitt scores with a jab to the jaw.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Summers.

Summers shoots in but Pitt avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Summers throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pitt was covering up waiting for the punch and Summers finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pitt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Summers is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Summers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Pitt avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Summers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Summers trying to control the position from guard on top but Pitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Summers being controlled here momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Summers is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pitt leaves Summers with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Summers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pitt avoids it really well and circles away.
Pitt lands a nice looking body shot.
Pitt is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Summers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Summers thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pitt's head.
Summers working over Pitt with some ground and pound. Pitt looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Pitt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Summers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Pitt gets full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Summers is looking to work some ground and pound but Pitt has wrist control.
Summers throwing strikes but missing.
Summers throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Summers trying to control the position from guard on top but Pitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Summers distracts Pitt with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dirk Pitt will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nice takedown defense from Pitt. No joy for Summers on that attempt.
Summers dives in for a single leg takedown but Pitt sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Pitt gets through Summers's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Summers blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Pitt scores with a shoulder strike.
Pitt scores with a shoulder strike.
Pitt tries a body shot but Summers blocks it.
Summers can't get the takedown.
Dirk Pitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Summers.
Pitt lands an uppercut.
Pitt scores with a nice hook to the head.
Summers drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pitt lands a nice knee to the body.
Summers has Pitt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pitt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Pitt lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Pitt has a couple of punches blocked by Summers.
Summers is breathing heavily.
Summers takes an elbow to the forehead.
Summers avoiding damage as Pitt throws knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pitt lands a damaging elbow.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Summers.
Pitt prevents the takedown attempt.
Summers is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pitt is defending well.
Pitt cracks Summers with a nice body shot.
Nice elbow from Pitt.
Pitt can't find room to land a body shot as Summers controls the action.
A body shot lands from Pitt.
Pitt lands a nice shot to the body.
A shot in the inside from Pitt.
A short uppercut from Pitt.


Summers is rocked!
A short right hand to the side of the head by Pitt.
Summers is still on wobbly legs! Can Pitt finish him?
Pitt creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Summers's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Summers drops to his knees and Pitt pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dirk Pitt!
During a confident post fight interview, Dirk Pitt thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
In defeat, Nathan Summers stepped up to the mic, saying 'Cmon niggas, you know I'm better.'.
