Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Ellis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, White Sons! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellis lands with a slapping head kick. Ellis tries to clinch up and Sons counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sons. Sons is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Ellis is trying to control the position but Sons postures up. Ellis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Sons throwing strikes but missing. Sons working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Sons postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Sons throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Sons makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ellis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sons on the ground. Sons throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ellis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sons scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Sons postures up in Ellis's guard and throws a big left but Ellis blocks it. Sons engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Sons content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sons distracts Ellis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sons is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Sons content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Ellis wants to sweep here but Sons controlling him for the moment. Sons throwing strikes from guard but Ellis blocks nicely. Sons passes into half guard. Sons is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ellis is just riding it out for now. Sons eventually gives up the hold. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sons lands a nice short elbow. Sons is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sons takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Sons has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sons lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Sons scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Ellis has hold of Sons's hands but Sons slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ellis is defending against the submission attempts here by Sons.
Sons lands strikes from half guard. Ellis taking some punishment here, with Sons in his half guard. Sons is trying for a kimura here. Ellis looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Sons wins by kimura!
