Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Smolder Stoner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, BJ McGobblecock! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stoner blocks a jab. Stoner takes a jab right on the kisser.
McGobblecock misses with a double jab.
McGobblecock misses with an uppercut. McGobblecock changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. A nice combination there by McGobblecock.
McGobblecock moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd cheers as McGobblecock lands an impressive looking overhand right. Stoner doesn't seem phased though. We've been hearing reports that Stoner has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Stoner keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fighters circling - McGobblecock throws out the jab but it was never going to land. McGobblecock lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. A swing and a miss from McGobblecock. BJ McGobblecock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGobblecock loads up on a big right hand but Stoner slips the punch. Stoner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGobblecock but McGobblecock pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stoner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McGobblecock. Some wild striking there from McGobblecock.
Stoner looks up at the clock. Bad move! McGobblecock lands a right hand from hell, dropping Stoner. McGobblecock pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). BJ McGobblecock! In his post fight interview, BJ McGobblecock started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
