PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Nader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nader kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is This Means War. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Morris!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nader as he avoids it easily.
Nader tries to clinch there but Morris circles away.
Horrible takedown by Nader or perhaps it was just good defense by Morris which made him look bad.
Morris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nader.
Nader stuffs the takedown attempt from Morris. Morris gets slowly back to his feet.
Nader moves in looking to clinch but Morris pushes him off.

Morris takes the fight into the clinch.
Morris is trying to break the clinch but Nader has him pressed against the cage.
Morris has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Morris is trying to stall.
A body shot lands from Nader.
Morris is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Morris will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Nader up against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Morris escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Morris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nader defends it nicely.
Morris goes for a double leg but Nader avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nader continues to drive forward.
Morris tries for a takedown. No joy.
Morris is pressed up against the cage. Nader has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Morris down to the mat. Morris avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Morris closes the distance and clinches.

Morris has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Nader with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Morris as Nader tries to tie him up.
Morris is trying to push Nader away but Nader has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Nader goes for a takedown attempt but Morris pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Charles Morris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nader avoids a kick to the body.
Morris fakes the leg kick and cracks Nader in the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Morris closes the distance and clinches.
Nader putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Morris in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nader pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Nader will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nader will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Morris tries to close the distance and clinch but Nader swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Morris fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Nader looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nader closes this distance looking for a takedown but Morris circles away.

Nader looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Morris tries to clinch up but Nader circles away and keeps his distance.
Morris shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nader sprawls well. Nader wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Morris gets slowly back to his feet.

Morris is looking to land body kicks.

Nader dives in for a single leg takedown but Morris sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Nader digs a right hand into Morris's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Morris's gas tank.

Nader leaves Morris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Nader tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morris swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Morris shoots in but Nader avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Nader shoots in looking for a takedown. Morris tries to sprawl out of it but Nader keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Morris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Morris counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Morris.

Morris wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nader has him pressed against the cage.
Nader drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Morris gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Nader creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Morris's defenses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nader has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Morris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nader. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Charles Morris hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nader shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Morris pinned against the cage. Morris gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

I would just about give that final round to Charles Morris.
