The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferguson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mendoza lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Nice body punch from Mendoza.
Mendoza connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Ferguson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ferguson is looking to land body kicks.
Mendoza defending well as Ferguson loads up on a big left hand.
Ferguson takes one to the chin there.
Mendoza lands with an uppercut that bounces Ferguson off the cage and back into range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ferguson moves into the clinch successfully.
Ferguson throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Mendoza is trying to break the clinch but Ferguson has him pressed against the cage.
Mendoza has had enough of the clinch but Ferguson keeps him there for the moment.
Ferguson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mendoza just stands there and leans against the cage.

Mendoza breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ferguson throws a combination that misses
and Mendoza counters with a stiff right hand.
Mendoza throws a right hand that Ferguson ducks under and follows up with a left that Ferguson also avoids with ease.
Ferguson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Zachary Mendoza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of bj Ferguson.
Mendoza scores with a nice head shot.
Mendoza throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mendoza scores with a jab. Ferguson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Ferguson is rocked!
Mendoza circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Ferguson to the canvas! Ferguson doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Mendoza keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

In his post fight interview, Zachary Mendoza started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
In defeat, bj Ferguson stepped up to the mic, saying 'ya know man being 32 years old now and having a 24-13 record. i still feel like i have more to give. ill never give up! never surrender! i am the boogieman! and im coming to get yah!'.
