Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Olivier Levasseur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Spezza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Olivier Levasseur! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Spezza! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice uppercut lands for Spezza. That snapped Levasseur's head back.
Levasseur shoots for a double leg takedown but Spezza sprawls well. He's pushed Levasseur's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Spezza tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Levasseur was well out of range. Poor timing from Spezza. Spezza throws a looping overhand right but Levasseur ducks down to avoid it. Spezza just misses with a punch to the body.

Donk. Spezza catches Levasseur right on the button with a cross. Spezza throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Spezza throws a looping overhand right but Levasseur ducks down to avoid it. Spezza throws an off balance right hand
and Levasseur counters with a nice double leg into side control. Spezza won't be happy with that. We've been hearing good reports from Levasseur's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Spezza managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Levasseur.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Levasseur tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Levasseur has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Levasseur tries to move to mount but Spezza blocks the move with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Levasseur landing a few strikes. Spezza has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Levasseur looks up at the clock and then as Spezza takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Levasseur smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Levasseur with the ground and pound but Spezza regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Spezza tries to get to full guard but Levasseur has control of the leg. Spezza regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Levasseur.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Levasseur wants to control from the top but Spezza keeps moving. Spezza trying to control the position.
Levasseur passes into half guard. Levasseur is trying to work for a kimura but Spezza is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Levasseur wants to control but Spezza is keeping him busy. Spezza is defending against the submission attempts here by Levasseur.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spezza avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Levasseur. Levasseur throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Spezza tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Levasseur has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Levasseur has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Spezza's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Levasseur working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Spezza holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Levasseur tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Levasseur with shots to the head and body - Spezza looks very uncomfortable down there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Levasseur lands a big elbow. Levasseur is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Spezza can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Spezza works over Levasseur's head and body with a nice combination. A left and a right from Spezza both land. Nice combination. Levasseur uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Spezza. Nice defenses there by Levasseur. Spezza throws a jab when Levasseur was well out of range. Spezza scores with a jab to the body. Spezza waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Levasseur. Levasseur shoots for a double leg takedown but Spezza sprawls well. He's pushed Levasseur's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Spezza fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Levasseur has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Spezza misses with a straight right. Levasseur fails to land the takedown. Spezza looks to land a left hand but Levasseur moved out of range nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spezza throws a shot from downtown. Levasseur moves away and avoids it. Levasseur shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spezza as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Olivier Levasseur. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spezza throws a shot from downtown. Levasseur moves away and avoids it. Levasseur dives in and grabs Spezza's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spezza pushes down on Levasseur's head and hops out. Spezza might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Levasseur shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Spezza but Spezza pushes him off and we're back to square one. Spezza scores with a jab to the head.
Levasseur displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Spezza throws out the jab. Decent striking displayed by Spezza there. Levasseur takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spezza getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Jason Spezza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Levasseur on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Spezza. Spezza obviously looking to wear him down.
Levasseur avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Levasseur ducks under a wild hook from Spezza. Spezza lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spezza misses with a lunging right hand
and Levasseur counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Levasseur is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Spezza has managed to free his arm - good work. Levasseur thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Spezza's head. Levasseur is working for an americana but Spezza has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Levasseur was thinking about the submission. Levasseur lands a couple of digs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Levasseur trying to control the position from guard on top but Spezza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spezza escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Levasseur gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Spezza had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Levasseur defends it easily. Levasseur is in close to Spezza's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Levasseur has gone for a leg lock! Spezza slips out almost immediately though and dives into Levasseur's guard. Levasseur working for submissions but it's allowed Spezza to get to half guard.
Levasseur is looking for a sweep. Spezza is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Levasseur is working hard here to advance position. Levasseur is trying to stand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Levasseur works his way to full guard. Good work. Olivier Levasseur overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Levasseur keeping moving, preventing Spezza from controlling successfully. Levasseur tries to score with some ground and pound. Spezza controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Spezza is trying to control Levasseur's posture but Levasseur avoids it. Spezza tries to buck Levasseur off but Levasseur is having none of it. Spezza is still trying to improve position. Spezza is not content to let Levasseur control the position. Levasseur is trying to get an arm triangle but Spezza is defending well.

Levasseur throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Spezza tries to get back to half guard but can't. Levasseur is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Spezza has escaped the position, nice work there. Levasseur is putting a hurting on Spezza here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spezza sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Levasseur is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Spezza sees it coming and defends easily. Levasseur throws a strike but Spezza avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Levasseur postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Levasseur's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Levasseur postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spezza looking for a guillotine here but Levasseur defends easily.

Levasseur postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Levasseur in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Levasseur throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Levasseur working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Levasseur chips away with some ground and pound. Levasseur avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Levasseur lands a couple of decent looking shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Levasseur throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Spezza utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Levasseur drops back, looking for a kneebar! Spezza looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Spezza looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Spezza! Levasseur manages to work his way to half guard, despite Spezza's best efforts. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spezza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Levasseur defends it well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spezza wants to pass the guard but Levasseur is defending well.
