Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Boris Brushnikov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikael Masu! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masu throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brushnikov sees it coming and avoids it easily. Brushnikov pushes Masu up against the cage in a clinch. Brushnikov gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Mikael Masu has been cut. Masu tries to break the clinch but Brushnikov is controlling the position. Brushnikov is pressed up against the cage. Masu has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brushnikov down to the mat. Brushnikov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Brushnikov looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Brushnikov fails in his attempt to clinch. Brushnikov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Masu. Masu paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Boris Brushnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brushnikov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Masu keeping his opponent close. Brushnikov tries for a kimura but Masu is defending well. Brushnikov works to advance to full mount. Masu defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Brushnikov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Brushnikov has hold of Masu's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Masu manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Masu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brushnikov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Masu is trying to get back to his feet but can't. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Masu is bucking up trying to escape but Brushnikov cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Brushnikov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Masu is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Masu has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Masu! Brushnikov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Masu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Brushnikov lands a couple of decent looking shots. Brushnikov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brushnikov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Brushnikov won't allow Masu to sweep him here. Masu wants to get back to his feet but Brushnikov is in a dominant position and won't allow it. And that's the end of the fight! Boris Brushnikov showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brushnikov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
