Baldoza's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Last Resort. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Baldoza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John McGuirk!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGuirk shoots in and bounces Baldoza off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
McGuirk stops Baldoza from standing up.
McGuirk trying to control but Baldoza is working from the bottom.

Baldoza is working an open guard so McGuirk takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
John McGuirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baldoza wants to clinch.

Baldoza lands a left and a right that sends McGuirk crashing to the canvas! Baldoza dives into mount looking to finish!


It looks like John McGuirk has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGuirk is looking to get to half guard.
McGuirk told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

McGuirk tries to lock up and control but Baldoza gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Baldoza is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McGuirk has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McGuirk!
McGuirk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Baldoza controls McGuirk momentarily but McGuirk frees himself.
McGuirk has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Baldoza is proving hard to escape from.

McGuirk slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

McGuirk drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Baldoza dives on top into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGuirk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Baldoza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Baldoza winds up and cracks McGuirk with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
McGuirk keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
McGuirk wants to get back to his feet.

Baldoza is looking for a kimura here.
McGuirk is looking to improve his position.
McGuirk is trying to stand back up but Baldoza is controlling him
Baldoza wants to pass to mount but McGuirk is defending the position.

Baldoza stands up from half guard.

Baldoza tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGuirk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McGuirk shoots in but Baldoza avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McGuirk swinging wildly here.
McGuirk lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Baldoza takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGuirk thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Baldoza if he has to take too many more of those.
Baldoza looks to clinch

and McGuirk counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McGuirk.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilson Baldoza dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John McGuirk's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A big right from McGuirk misses.
Baldoza takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wilson Baldoza is winning the standup battle so far.

McGuirk closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Baldoza jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGuirk walks away with a smile on his face. Baldoza gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

McGuirk instigates a clinch.

McGuirk ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McGuirk no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Baldoza wants to pass the guard but McGuirk is keeping the position.
Baldoza is looking to work some ground and pound but McGuirk has wrist control.
Baldoza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGuirk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McGuirk is working an open guard so Baldoza takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Baldoza avoids a punch combination nicely.

and McGuirk counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

McGuirk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Baldoza sprawls well initially but McGuirk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McGuirk has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Baldoza tries to buck McGuirk off but he can't manage it.
McGuirk trying to control but Baldoza is having none of it.
McGuirk in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McGuirk scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Baldoza?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Baldoza is in a horrible position here. McGuirk smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

John McGuirk really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Cynical Truth Vegas (steel penn) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
