PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Kolpakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robledo Puch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kolpakov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Alisa - Aerobica. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Meet the Future

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Kolpakov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robledo Puch!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kolpakov defends it nicely.
Kolpakov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Puch.
Kolpakov throws an overhand right that lands on Puch's shoulder, as Puch tries to avoid the shot.
Puch fails to land the takedown.
Nikolai Kolpakov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robledo Puch.
Kolpakov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Puch keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kolpakov.
Kolpakov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Puch's head backwards.
Puch slips under a jab from Kolpakov.

Puch feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kolpakov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Puch wants to pass the guard but Kolpakov is keeping the position.
Puch slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Puch is working to tighten his grip on Kolpakov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kolpakov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Puch is really squeezing tight and eventually Kolpakov passes out! Puch breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Robledo Puch!
Robledo Puch was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
