The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mathews.
Mathews lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jigster circles away quickly and effectively.
Mathews looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jigster is fending him off so far but Mathews persists. Nope, Jigster circles away and we're back to standing.

Jigster shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mathews is trying to defend but Jigster finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mathews turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mathews manages to end up in side control.
