Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roman Goodman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slugger Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slugger Jenkins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roman Goodman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Slugger Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins misses with a wild combination.
Goodman misses with a head kick.

Jenkins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jenkins wants to stand but Goodman has his arm trapped.
Goodman wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Goodman throws Jenkins to one side and escapes!

Jenkins closes the distance and clinches.

Jenkins jumps guard.
Goodman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jenkins is looking to stand up but Goodman isn't so interested in that idea.

We're going to have a standup here because Roman Goodman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Goodman gets caught flat footed, as Jenkins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Goodman is on top in guard.
Goodman passes into half guard.
Jenkins is trying to stand back up but Goodman is controlling him

Goodman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Goodman stands up and beckons Jenkins to join him on the feet.

Jenkins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jenkins showed some decent athleticism there.
Goodman throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Goodman pushes Jenkins off and gets back to his feet.

Goodman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jenkins to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jenkins looks winded!

Goodman uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Jenkins closes the distance and clinches.

Goodman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Goodman tightens his grip and picks Jenkins up, before dumping him to the ground. Jenkins manages to land in guard.
Goodman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jenkins is working an open guard so Goodman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jenkins instigates a clinch.
Goodman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jenkins gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Roman Goodman will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Jenkins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Goodman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jenkins is in Goodman's guard.

Goodman avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Jenkins gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Goodman changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jenkins fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Jenkins scores a nice knee to the body.

Jenkins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Goodman uses from the top position.
Goodman's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Roman Goodman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Roman Goodman.
Jenkins finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A slapping leg kick lands for Jenkins.

Goodman closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jenkins's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Goodman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jenkins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Goodman did well to prevent Jenkins getting side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Goodman is staying active underneath Jenkins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goodman gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Goodman pushes Jenkins off and gets back to his feet.

Jenkins misses with a punch on the inside.
A frustrated look appears on Jenkins's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jenkins has had enough of the clinch but Goodman keeps him there for the moment.

Goodman tries to pull guard but Jenkins holds him up against the cage and eventually Goodman drops back down to his feet.

Jenkins manages to pull guard.
Goodman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Goodman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jenkins is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Goodman stands and steps away. Jenkins gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roman Goodman will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Goodman is pushing Jenkins up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Jenkins pushes off an throws an elbow but Goodman leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Jenkins utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Goodman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Goodman gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jenkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A low kick from Jenkins misses

and Goodman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jenkins won't be happy with that.
Goodman staying calm.

Goodman has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Slugger Jenkins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jenkins feints and as Goodman raises his hands in defense, Jenkins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jenkins throws a big right hand that misses.

Goodman is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Jenkins presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Knees in the clinch landing for Jenkins.

Goodman breaks the clinch.

Jenkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Goodman throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Goodman has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Jenkins doesn't defend quickly enough and Goodman has managed to lock this one up! Can Jenkins escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Goodman on a fantastic submission victory.
