Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Decker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Vinyard! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decker looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Vinyard! Vinyard is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Decker throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. An elbow from Decker crashes against the mat.
Vinyard looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Decker goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vinyard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Decker but great work by Vinyard. Decker wants to control but Vinyard postures up. Vinyard looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. You can see the frustration on Decker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Decker is looking to regain half guard here but Vinyard keeps moving and retains side control. Decker wants to control but Vinyard postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Decker is looking to reverse the position. Vinyard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Vinyard looks winded! Decker gets back to half guard. Decker pushes Vinyard off looking to stand but Vinyard dives back in and keeps control.
Decker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Decker looking for submissions off his back. Vinyard seems to be working for a kimura but Decker defends the submission attempt. Decker missing with punches from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Decker wants to get back to full guard. Vinyard is thwarting Decker's attempts to control the position. Vinyard is looking for a kimura here.
