Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hans Beijer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beijer comes to the cage accompanied by David hasselhoff - Looking for freedome. Jacobs is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Till I Collapse. Russell Jacobs is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Russell Jacobs!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs cracks a nice hook into Beijer's ribs.
Beijer jabs Jacobs to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jacobs throws a body kick that misses.
Beijer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Beijer ducks under a wild hook from Jacobs.
A jab from Beijer misses.
Russell Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jacobs shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Beijer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Beijer trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Jacobs throws an elbow that misses. Beijer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jacobs's guard. Nice move by Beijer!

Beijer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jacobs keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Beijer connects with a nice short shot to Jacobs's temple.

Beijer is keen to just control but Jacobs is a slippery customer.
Jacobs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Beijer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Beijer's back!

Jacobs is looking for a choke. Beijer gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Beijer manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Beijer is pushing down on Jacobs's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jacobs is fighting to maintain full guard but Beijer has managed to sneak the leg through.

Beijer is stalling here. Jacobs is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Beijer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jacobs has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Beijer is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jacobs connects with a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hans Beijer will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jacobs throws a jab but it's blocked by Beijer.
Beijer takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Beijer walks into a stiff left hand from Jacobs.


It looks like Hans Beijer has been cut.
Nice straight punches there by Jacobs. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jacobs.

Beijer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jacobs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Beijer counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Beijer is looking to work some ground and pound but Jacobs has wrist control.
Jacobs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Beijer's guard.
Beijer wants to sweep here but Jacobs controlling him for the moment.

Jacobs is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Beijer holds on and takes a little breather.
Jacobs looking to sit in guard and control but Beijer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Beijer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jacobs lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Beijer!

Jacobs is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Beijer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jacobs. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Beijer is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Jacobs can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Beijer is looking to escape.
Jacobs looking to ground and pound but Beijer is blocking nicely.

A less than humble Russell Jacobs misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
