Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock comes into the arena with Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue blaring out of the sound system. Perez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: It's Goin Down by T.C.. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck Shamrock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Perez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamrock throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Perez looks to score with a jab to the body but Shamrock is just out of range.
Shamrock has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Perez finds it's way round the side to connect with Shamrock's head.
Shamrock throws a jab when Perez was well out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Perez.
Shamrock has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Perez pushes Shamrock up against the ropes in a clinch.
Shamrock tries to break the clinch but Perez is controlling the position.
Perez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Shamrock gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Perez is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Shamrock can't fight it off and eventually Perez manages to take the fight to the floor. Shamrock looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Perez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shamrock is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shamrock has escaped and now he's on top!
Shamrock might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Perez wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Shamrock has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Shamrock clinches up with Perez and pushes him back against the ropes.
Shamrock lands with a short punch from the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Shamrock just misses with a elbow thrown towards Perez's brow.
Shamrock lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Shamrock lands a nice shot to the body.

Shamrock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perez tries to keep at a distance but Shamrock has taken the fight into the clinch.

Shamrock lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Perez backwards.

Shamrock gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Shamrock wants to stand up but Perez has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Perez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Perez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shamrock pulls his head out easily.
Perez wants to improve his position but Shamrock is controlling well.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perez is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Shamrock dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Perez walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Shamrock checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Perez darts in and clinches Shamrock up against the ropes.
Perez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Shamrock is defending well for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shamrock lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Perez to his knees! Shamrock keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
